Frank DeFazio is Laverne's father who owns the Pizza Bowl, a local hang out. He later opens up Cowboy Bills in Burbank, California. Although he could be harsh and lose his temper, he did have a heart of gold. He loves Laverne very much, having been her only parent for years, after his wife died, when Laverne was 12 years old.
Frank's pet nickname for his daughter was "Muffin". Frank is also very protective of Shirley, becoming somewhat of a surrogate father to her since her family was absent and her mother lived in California.
Frank met Edna Babish, who was Laverne and Shirley's apartment owner/manager in Milwaukee, and began dating and courting each other in Season 3, married in Season 4, and relocated with Laverne, Shirley, Lenny, Squiggy and Carmine to Southern California, where they opened up Cowboy Bills.
By the series final season Season 8, (Betty Garrett, who plays Edna, Frank's wife, had committed to another TV series project) producers had it written in the story line that Edna had left Frank.
