Happy Days Wiki

"Grandma Nussbaum" is the fourteenth episode of the ninth season of Happy Days, and the 203rd episode in the series overall. Written by James P. Dunne with Barry O'Brien, the episode, which was directed by Jerry Paris, originally aired on ABC-TV on January 19, 1982.

Synopsis[]

Grandma Nussbaum teaches Fonzie and Chachi a lesson in growing old gracefully when they try to convince the feisty granny to move into a retirement home.

Storyline[]

Fonzie and Chachi visit their grandmother Nussbaum (Frances Bay); but when they notice her acting abnormally, Fonzie and Chachi believe she is going senile. Worried about her living alone in that condition, Fonzie suggests that Grandma move into a retirement community, which doesn't set too well with her.

Fonzie and Chachi, who are both concerned about their grandma forgetting things, as well as her eyesight and hearing not being what it used to be, try to convince the feisty granny to move into a retirement home after Fonzie talked to Howard's uncle Joe (Pat O'Brien), who talked about how he liked it when he stayed in one at one time, as she convinces them to change their minds when she has Fonzie try on her bifocals and hearing aid, as he, as she says "gets the picture".
